This image of a cluster of crocuses in Arundel, Maine is composed of 4 individual shots taken at 180mm. I have long been a lover of these small flowers, I guess because after of winter of white in Maine, their brilliant colors are so refreshing. This group lives on the edge of the woods on the other side of our driveway, and all winter they lie buried beneath the piles of snow pushed up by the fellow who does our plowing. When they finally burst through last fall's leaves, they look ten times their size against the earth-tone background.
