This image of a weed in the dunes in Brighton, New Zealand is composed of 4 individual shots taken at 180mm. It is often the case that I shoot scenes I wasn't expecting to find while out with the expectation of shooting something else. This was one such case. I walked past this flower, which was next to the path through the dunes, on the way to shoot some beach scenes. On the way back, after finding nothing that caught my attention, I again saw the flower, and again passed it by. But after only twenty feet or so, I turned and returned, finally realizing that the purple of the flower against the stark vertical lines of the grass was too nice to pass by for good.
